Education and Outreach Programs

Community OUTREACH

Each year, the Firelands Symphony Orchestra brings our guest artists and musicians into local schools across North Central Ohio to perform, teach and encourage choir, orchestra and band classes. Additionally, we bring an artist or ensemble to three elementary schools for a multi-grade interactive music presentation (up to 375 students).

This program promotes a better understanding of different cultures and music from all over the world. Prejudice is caused by ignorance. If we understand that the practical reasons why people dress, eat and act differently and speak different languages, then we can grasp that we are all interdependent and must cooperate globally to survive. Seona will have the students playing in her world band, singing on the microphone, doing hand actions and international dancing. This program is perfectly suited for Grades Pre-K through 8. (TEACHER’S WORKBOOK INCLUDED)

If your school is interested in scheduling one of these activities, please contact the FSO office at 419.621.4800.
