MUSICIAN AUDITIONS

The Firelands Symphony Orchestra (FSO), a professional orchestra based in Huron, Ohio, will be holding auditions this September.

CURRENT OPENINGS ARE FOR:

– Trumpet 3 (Assistant to Principal)
– Violin
– Viola
– Cello (including Principal position)

** While openings do not exist for other instruments, musicians are encouraged to audition to be on our substitute list. If you are are not sure of your availability for all concerts, you may still audition for any instrument.

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS

Please prepare a solo piece plus 2 contrasting orchestral excerpts of your choosing. You will also need to provide a printed one-page resume at the time of your audition.

FIRELANDS SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA REHEARSAL/CONCERT SCHEDULE

The FSO, led by music director and conductor Carl Topilow, plays 5 season concerts at the Sandusky State Theatre on October 5, November 17, December 15, February 22, and April 18.

These include 3 rehearsals of 3 hours duration, typically but not always on the preceding Thursday and Friday, and on the day of the concert (general rule). Rehearsals and concerts take place at the Sandusky State Theatre, located in Sandusky, Ohio. Additional add-on concerts will be held on January 26 and February 2. Each of these will be at various other venues.
