AUDITIONS FOR FIRELANDS SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
The Firelands Symphony Orchestra (FSO), a professional orchestra based in Huron, Ohio, will be holding auditions this September.
- SEPTEMBER 12, 2018
The Cleveland Institute of Music, Wednesday, September 12, from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM in a room TBD.
- SEPTEMBER 13, 2018
The Oberlin Conservatory of Music, Thursday, September 13, from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM in a room TBD.
Current openings are in:
- Oboe 2/English Horn
- Principal Clarinet
- Trombone 2
NOTE: **While openings do not exist for other instruments, musicians are encouraged to audition to be on our substitute list. If you are not sure of your availability for all concerts, you may still audition for any instrument.
HOW TO PREPARE FOR THE AUDITION
- Please prepare a solo piece plus 2 contrasting orchestral excerpts of your choosing.
- You will also need to provide a printed one-page resume at the time of your audition.
ABOUT THE FIRELANDS SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
The FSO, led by music director and conductor Carl Topilow, plays 5 season concerts at the Sandusky State Theater, with an additional outdoor concerts on August 19. The season concerts this year are on October 6, November 11, December 9, January 27, February 23, and April 27, and include 3 rehearsals of 3 hours duration on the preceding Thursday and Friday, and on the day of the concert (general rule). Rehearsals and concerts take place at the Sandusky State Theater, located in Sandusky Ohio.
