TROMBONE
BriAn GRIFFIN
Mr. Griffin graduated from the University of Akron in 2014 and taught Middle School general music in the Fremont School District. It was during this time that he auditioned for a substitute trombone opportunity for Mr. Topilow and has been creating relationships with members of the orchestra since then. Alongside playing second trombone with the Firelands Symphony, Mr. Griffin won the second trombone position with the Ashland Symphony Orchestra in 2017 and currently holds that position. He has also performed with various brass quintets through the Ashland Symphony Orchestra, as well as the American Federation of Musicians Local 159 in Mansfield
During his tenure at the University of Akron, he has won first place in the Tuesday Musical Scholarship Competition, was runner up in the school’s concerto competition, as well as one first place in the Kai-Winding Jazz trombone International Competition through the International Trombone Association.
