BRUCE GOLDEN
Bruce Golden is a graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Music where he received his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in performance. His principle teachers include Richard Weiner and Cloyd Duff. Bruce has also studied drum set with George Lawrence and Bodhran with Mance Grady. Bruce served as Principal Percussionist with the Toledo Symphony from 1984-2004 as well as percussionist with Toledo Opera and Toledo Ballet orchestras during that period. He has also performed with the Cleveland Orchestra, Colorado Symphony, New Hampshire Symphony, Nashua Symphony, the Indian Hill Symphony, Erie Philharmonic and Fort Wayne Philharmonic.
Bruce has participated in several summer music festivals including the Tanglewood Music Festival and for several summers was a percussionist with the Colorado Music Festival in Boulder, Colorado. He currently is a percussionist with the Lakeside Symphony at the Lakeside Festival. Bruce has held faculty positions at the University of Toledo and Cleveland State University where he directed undergraduate percussion studies as well as the percussion ensemble.
Bruce currently performs with many ensembles in the Cleveland area including the Cleveland Pops Orchestra, Bluewater Chamber Orchestra, Cleveland Chamber Collective, as well as CityMusic Cleveland.
Bruce is married to Eileen Choi Golden, a former Cleveland Institute of Music graduate who is now a physician. He has two children who both live on the west coast. While not performing and practicing Bruce enjoys cooking and biking in his spare time.
