Tom Flowers began his orchestral life as a member of the Wheeling Symphony while attending West Virginia University. After teaching public school in Cedarville, Ohio and performing with the Dayton Philharmonic and Springfield Symphony he moved to northeast Ohio to complete a masters degree at Kent State University where he studied bass with Cleveland Orchestra bassist, Anthony Knight and became a member of the orchestras in Akron, Canton and Youngstown. Other bass teachers include Paul Robinson , Walter Coplin, Anthony Bianco and William Rhein.  Beside playing with the FSO he is a member of the Akron Symphony and frequently performs with the Cleveland Pops. He has also performed in the Ohio Light Opera, Blue Water Chamber Orchestra, Cleveland Opera, Spoleto Festival Orchestra (Italy), AIMS Orchestra (Graz, Austria) and many other orchestras of northeast Ohio. As a tubist he performed with the Walt Disney World All American College Band. He has shared the stage with include Yo-Yo Ma, Itzhak Perlman, Doc Severinson, Andrea Bocelli, Cynthia Germanotta,William Warfield, Emanuael Ax, Van Cliburn, Aaron Copland and Benny Goodman.

Tom was a long time orchestra/string teacher in the Elyria Schools and later at Lake Ridge Academy. His interests include travel, amateur radio, antique radio restoration and biking. He and his wife, Renee, live in Elyria.  They have three adult sons and are recent first time grandparents.
